Maggie Devers
I have this little fantasy that my daughter’s hippy school is raising a bunch of radicals
And imagine them chanting “resist” in unison
But then I realize that’s what they’re doing all day
In every moment that they are authentically true to themselves
And we can too.
Liberation looks like many things
Hanging upside down on the monkey bars with no hands
Standing on the highest part of the play structure and observing the world below
Painting, drawing, reading
When we light our hearts on fire just to feel good, we are resisting.
So play more, love more, be silly more, break the rules more
Just to feel good
And count it as an act of rebellion,
Because it is.

Write After: National Poetry Month with One Poem Only
Write After is a way to encourage poets to listen and write, and use National Poetry Month to highlight how listening to poetry makes us better poets. I know I write the best when I’m surrounded by beautiful poetry–it’s part of the reason I created this podcast, and I want to encourage others to share this practice. We'll get started in April. You can share to #WriteAfterOPO.
